What spring and cable work costs
A torsion spring replacement typically runs $150 to $350. Cable repair or replacement typically runs $150 to $350 as well. Where a job lands in that range depends on what we find on the spring, pulley, and cable system once we have the door in front of us.
What we do on the visit
We start by running the door and watching how it moves. The springs, the pulley, and the cables all carry the door's weight together, so we look at them as one system rather than swapping a single part and leaving the rest.
We also check the rollers. If they are worn, we replace them and then confirm they move freely in the tracks. When the work is done, we reconnect the opener. We then use a 2×4 contact-reversal test block to confirm the door reverses when it meets an obstruction.

Heat and the cooling season
A door here works in heat for much of the year, so we look closely at the moving hardware, the rollers and cables especially, instead of only the part you called about. If something is worn but can wait, we tell you and leave it off the quote.
Getting your number
Describe what the door is doing and we can name a ballpark before we drive out. Then we come out, look at the springs, cables, and rollers, and write up the exact price before we start any work.
How It Works
In practice, the steps run roughly like this:
